Anna Hackett is an excellent writer. I really enjoy many of her series. That being said, I've had mixed feelings about this one. The books are fun to read, but the hectic pace of the action never left enough time for the romance aspect of the book to shine. The relationships seem rushed to me. This one was different. Maybe it's because the adventure stayed local or maybe it's simply that the characters have interacted the series before, but whatever the case, this one actually allowed the relationship to take center stage without leaving the action behind. As a result, I was much more satisfied with the book as a whole. I had been waiting for Blair and Luke's story for a while and I was very happy to see how well it evolved. Fans of the series will love it. Newcomers can start here, since it does stand alone, but they will do better to start from the beginning. There are too many characters making appearances here that need introducing. Either way, the book is highly entertaining.

A five star rating from me. I love all her books and eagerly anticipate and await the news ones.
Was it perfect ,no, almost though. I feel so disloyal even mentioning anything. However these few things stuck out and bothered me. Surprisingly, a lot, to the point they overshadowed all the good. They niggled at me so I'm going to list them and be done with them.
Beware of possible spoilers-
Callie is the medic on the team but she didn't treat or even look at Blair's and Luke's injuries. She was there. A regular medic stitched them. All the other victims were dead. The one survivor had been taken to the hospital. What the heck was Callie doing?
Blair's apartment was burgled. She said her security system had been breached. Assassins went inside and left threats. She turns around and makes a statement that she can take care of herself and will be safe staying alone in that same apartment because she has that security system. ??? What? Of course she is attacked and almost killed when she walks inside that oh so very secure apartment. I'm smh here. That rankles and irritates. You can't expect me to believe someone is smart and capable and then have them pull something so stupid.
She is supposedly super bad and skilled and can kill people with her little finger but in that last fight in NY someone knocks into her and she drops her gun. Are you kidding me? I might lose my weapon like that but she would not have let that happen in such a way.
Finally, when they were locked outside on the terrace she shoots all her ammo at the metal lock. It doesn't work. They are still locked out. He picks up a heavy cement planter and smashes the glass door and they walk through. Ummm. Say what? The door is glass and she shoots at the metal door handle? And uses all her bullets? And he is a seasoned policeman and she's a superstar former special ops soldier turned wonder woman who saves the world regularly. Yeah, right.
There, end of rant about the little things that took my attention from the story. And it was a great story, full of romance and adventure and wonderful characters.
I highly recommend this book and all her others. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What a great addition to the series! Lots of story along with sexy parts, my favorite. A lot of exciting action. A very interesting plot, finding supernatural artifacts.
Give this book a try, you won't be disappointed!
Another good story from one of my favorite authors. The dangerous artifacts in each of these books are fascinating. I liked Luke once he really started to see who Blair is. I'm glad he took the time to look below her hard surface. I like each member of Team 52 and look forward to Ty's story.
Team 52 Second in Command Blair Mason is used to taking care of herself but Las Vegas Detective Luke MacKade tests all of her control. They've been butting heads since the beginning but now they're forced to work together after several cursed Samurai swords are stolen. Like all of the Anna Hackett's books, Mission Her Defense starts off with a bang and the action never lets up. I love diving into Hackett's books and just getting swept up in all the action and romance.

I loved Blair from the first book of the series and I've been dying for her story because she's such a bada** woman. Blair is smart, strong, and a serious threat in a fight -- I pretty much have a girl crush on her. Getting close to other people is hard for Blair because she's afraid to lose anyone else in her life, so she pushes away Luke anytime he gets too close. But Luke is determined and I loved that he never gave up on Blair.

Luke is the perfect possessive alpha and exactly what Blair needs in her life. Luke is never intimated by Blair and he's not bothered by her strength, instead he supports her and believes in her. On top of that, Luke and Blair have amazing chemistry and these two were burning up my .

I'm loving the Team 52 books and I can't wait for Ty's book next because that little teaser about his story has me really intrigued!
I really don't know how Anna Hackett does it! Everything she writes is gold.

Blair and Luke, shew! Hot, steaming, boiling chemistry these 2 have! We all knew it was coming after watching these 2 grumble and growl at each other over the past 3 books in this serie.

As the others did, this one starts with marathon action and lots of pissing each other off.

In this episode, ha ha ha, we have our H and h hunting down bad guys who stole cursed katanas and are committing hari-kiri - literally!

Both main characters are in need of emotional healing, as well as some sexual healing - did I tell you their chemistry is flammable? *fans self*

This is the 4th book in the series, and they just keep getting better!
