I love this series, but this book is the slowest of the four, for me. I felt that it dragged quite a bit and I wasn't as enthralled as I was with the previous two novels. I'm still a big fan, but it was a little slower for me.

Dwellers of Darkness Darkness Series Book 3 eBook Stacey Marie Brown Reviews

I was enjoying these books, but a few things kept nagging at me in the back of my mind the whole time I was reading. The books otherwise would have been good.
#1. (And the most frustrating one) The time difference between the two worlds. In book 2 Ember goes to the other world to attempt a rescue, is only gone 3 1/2 days. When she returns to earth it's been 3 years. She unexpectedly finds her mom on this rescue mission ment for her friends.
So basically her mom has been "dead" for 5 days, yet she has lost all this weight and muscle mass. That and through the next 2 books everyone says how she was locked up and tortured for years.... but she was in the other world, for 5 otherworldly days. Same goes for West, her dad, and friend. If the author was going to make a time difference that drastic, maybe she should've made the prison on earth or enchanted the prison to run on earth time.

#2. Ember is a self absorbed t*at.

That being said, enjoy my money because I did in fact purchase all 4.
P.S. I love Simmons & Cal with all their dick drawing, swizzle stick wielding ability.
I had to take a break from reading the Dwellers of the Dark after reading Book 3. Book 3 was a disappointment on many levels. It focused way to much on Ember and Eli's sexual affair. It seemed as though the author had already decided to have a Book 4. Book 3 was just a lot of feeler material based on Ember's and Eli's sexual episodes at the Dark Dwellers warded compound. Ember didn't seemed that upset about the Seelie queen having Mark (her step dad) or Ryan. The first part and the last parts were entertaining. But the middle or most of the book could have been summed up in one or two chapters. I have not decided if I will read Book 4.
This series is amazing. I love how I can read the words on the pages and actually pictures the scenes created by the author as if they were happening right in front of me. Stacey's ability to transport you to the world's she creates is fantastic. I am so thrilled with Eli and Ember's story and how their relationship has evolved. It is also good to learn although in a very slow fashion both Ember and Eli's pasts. We get to know both characters and what makes them tick. I am glad to see Ember is more fully accepting who she is and is getting a better control of her powers of course Eli is also helping her learn how to better control her powers and her senses. Did not like the ending though I could have done without that loss even if it was just a momentary loss. Torin's story is sad but he needs to regain some self control he is starting to act like a total jerk.

NO Shocker to see Lars is actually related to Ember but I am actually quite happy with that result. I am not too sure I like Lily right now.

All in all the book was good it moved a little more slowly than the last two books for my linking.
I liked the first and second book, but Ember reached a level of dumb that just isn't fun to read. I love fantasy books, but often authors lack the ability to effectively "leave the reader guessing". So much of the twists and turns in this book were predictable from page 1! And the otherworld timelapse isn't consistent at all. Pay attention to Josh's arrival and you'll understand what I mean. I hate when fantasy writers don't follow their own fantastical rules. Consistency is key! If you decide to read this book, be aware that the last chapter will drive you nuts. Spoiler Alert! Ember will literally save her enemy and neglects to take back what was stolen from her before doing so. That level of idiocy just isn't believable and pops the bubble of bliss I so often love to bask in.
I loved Eli and Ember together so much!! Never a boring moment between those two when they're in the same room together. Their constant jabs at each other had me laughing a lot. But, to be honest I hated Torin and he really wasn't even a big part of this book but I detest even the slightest hint of love triangles so I skipped through the parts with him in it. That is why I didn't give it a 5 star rating. I hate the queen with a passion and Samantha oh, and Lorkin so I hope they all die a horrible health! The queen better keep her disgusting hands off Eli or I will not read another word of that book. It makes me really uncomfortable when writers feel it's necessary to add a twist of demented, sick and perverted story line where the vilian (queen) has to sexually fondle the hero (Eli for example) in front of the one they love (Ember). It's not necessary and it's just seems like perversion and I find it extremely disgusting! I almost want to just read the end of book 4 so I dont have to worry about turning the page and reading something sick. All that said.....I do like the way this author adds humor in her writing. It's natural and draws you in.... Except for the stupid (kinda) love triangles.
The first book in this series dragged along and you FINALLY find out what Ember is by the last chapter. I decided to give the second book a chance & I loved it! It was fast paced, questions were answered, and Ember was really coming into her own. With that in mind I couldn't wait to read the third book. Unfortunately, it did not live up to its potential. It continued to circle around the SAME story line with Embers friends being kidnapped, she continues to make stupid decisions, & her powers are useless. However, since I am invested in this series I will push on to the final book and hopefully it comes to an eventful end
This one had a little love triangle tension which I am not a fan of, and was a little alternately slow and confusing and fast-paced and twisted (with some splashes of adult romance and a lot off witticism and hilarity). I liked learning more about Embers past and the other characters, who are all as deep and dynamic as the main characters. There's a lot of tension, deception, disappointment and haunted feelings, with the action and the great witting, this unique world and story line continues to keep me invested. That cliffhanger is definitely a lure for book 4.
I love this series, but this book is the slowest of the four, for me. I felt that it dragged quite a bit and I wasn't as enthralled as I was with the previous two novels. I'm still a big fan, but it was a little slower for me.
